Kitten died

My daughter was anxious to see her cats and we stop by the store to buy cat food. It is to our dismay when we arrived home and see blood in their box house... It seems a tomcat has managed to kill the kittens when the mother was away.

It is natural for tomcats to kill kittens which didn't have their genetic traits or kittens with a rivals traits. Or the tomcat is rogue cat that just happens to off kittens like thugs in the hood. Cats behave like a lions pride. That would explain the tomcat's behaviour.

My daughter is sad but mostly she grips the notion that the kittens have all died. The word she muttered was "Siapa la buat kucing Echa sampai mati?" (Who would kill my kittens?)

Latest addition to our family

As you may or may not know, my wife is in her 8th month of pregnancy and we are expecting another baby girl.

It seems though our cat beat us to it. Well, it isn't our cat per se, it just kind of visited us from time to time and her visits become longer and longer and then we heard the sound of a litter of kittens meowing... and there were 4 of them! The kittens are a few days old when we found them.

This is surely a blessing by Allah in someway and we appreciate the new addition to our family. My daughter is thrilled at the thought of owning a cat.

The only problem was, she gave birth in our newly setup baby room!!! we spent the whole day cleaning and moving things to our room. Sigh... a blessing in disguise... Take a look at the cat pictures below:

The Mambo Kings

I was 14 when i watched the movie "Mambo Kings". A tragic story of the Castillo brothers Cesar (Arman d Assante) and Nestor (Antonio Banderas) who flee Cuba after a love triangle takes a potentially deadly twist. The love sick Nestor leaves behind the love of his life, the beautiful Maria Rivera (Talisa Soto), now married to his romantic rival.

The brothers arrive in New York, where Cesar meets the lushly sensuous, blonde bombshell, Lana Lake (Cathy Moriarty). They eventually marry, while Nestor, still carrying a torch for Maria, meets the sedate and quietly pretty Delores Fuentes (Maruschka Detmers), whom he eventually marries. Given a helping hand by fellow Cuban, Desi Arnaz, Sr. (Desi Arnaz, Jr.), Cesar and Nestor shortly become stars of the dance halls and clubs they play, where they are christened the "Mambo Kings".

Unfortunately, Cesar's dreams are not necessarily Nestor's dreams and conflicts arise. The brothers also run into trouble when Cesar's arrogance pits him against a musical syndicate that rules the clubs and dance halls with an iron hand, derailing their careers for a time. Moreover, Nestor's marriage is seriously troubled, because of his obsession with his lost love. Still, no matter what, there is always the music.

The tragic end when Nestor died, the impact it has on his wife and Cesar makes you think and wonder... is life so tragic... It was reported that this was Antonio Banderas's first english movie and he can't speak english ... so his dialogues were pronounced phonetically and so was Armand Assante's spanish, done phonetically. Coupled by great songs of the 40s-50s... by greats such as the late Celia Cruz and the late Tito Puente, it is truly an amazing blend of story, music, love and dance. This movie will always have a soft spot in my heart.

Pirates Ahoyy!! Starting 13/7/2006

Another blockbuster moviecomig our way is the Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.
Starring Johnny Depp as the fabulous Capt Jack Sparrow, Orlando Bllom as Will Turner and Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Swann. Making a come is the 2 nerdly pirates from the 1st movie and a new baddie Davey Jones (Bill Nighy) with Barbossa making a presence...

This time around, Capt Jack has to find a way to save his soul from certain hellish doom from Davey Jones to which he finds out that he owes a blood debt to the Captain of the ghostly Flying Dutchman. With time running out, Jack must find a way out of his debt or else be doomed to eternal damnation and servitude in the afterlife. And as if this weren't enough, the Captain's problems manage to wreck the wedding plans of a certain Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann, who are forced to join Jack on yet another misadventure.

Review: Superman Returns

I just saw the movie and here's what i've got to say...

Typically, with anything great, you'll have the majority of the people who love the thing, and then you'll have the minority of people who pick-it-apart for the sake of being "smarter" and against the popular opinion.

What do you expect from a movie like this? Of course they'll pay tribute to the originals. Of course it's going to contain drama and a love story. It has to appeal to both genders, and all ages regardless of ethnics... and they did just that!!! Bravo Bryan Singer!

Personally, I loved this movie. I watched with my family which consists of My MIL, my wife, my 3 yrs old daughter (she wore her Superman outfit) and me. Brandon Routh was an excellent Superman, Kate Bosworth looks a bit young as Lois Lane but otherwise a good performance, Kevin Spacey is also superb as the scheming super villain Lex Luthor with his bumbling henchmen...

There were dull moments and jokes in between, but every moment moved the story forward so you have to pay attention or miss the fun. Lots of emotion and action in between with awesome CGI.

We are also introduced to Lois Lane's kid, a small asthmatic boy who has Ds for gym class... :D the kid is just an emotional baggage to me except that towards the end, he is finally revealed as Superman's son.

I felt all the magic when i was watching the first and second Superman films (i'm being all melodramatic and stuff but it's true!!!). My advice? If you go in thinking and being all analytical and stuff, you'll probably hate it. If you go in thinking it will be good, you'll be in for a very worthwhile 2 1/2 hours. And if you go in without any expectations, you'll be amazed.

Rating: 4/5 stars... see the movie with your inner child and you will be pleased! :D

Lex and his goons!
