Carl's Junior

When i was a teenager, i had the opportunity to hangout at Carl's Jr. They were in KL back in the mid 90's. I remember 2 locations; 1 - underneath Dataran Merdeka, there used to be a small shopping mall there and; 2 - in front of Kotaraya. (My friend went to 1 near the KL bird park 10 yrs ago - or so he claims!)

Owned by Carl Karcher (which also owns Hardee's - i had a taste of Hardee's during my stay in Madinah, K.S.A.) CKE Restaurants, Inc. (NYSE: CKR) is the parent company of the Carl's Jr., Hardee's, Green Burrito, and Red Burrito restaurant chains. Its headquarters are in Carpinteria, California. It was incorporated in 1964 by Carl's Jr. founder Carl Karcher as Carl Karcher Enterprises, Inc.

I liked their food because it tasted different, a welcome change from the normal KFC, McD's all over town. And now they're BACK!!!
Apparently, everything in Carl's Jr has gone BIG and i mean BIG!!!! i had a lunch worth RM30/=.

Here's what i had:
1 x Portobello Mushroom Burger (the size of a BK's whopper)
1 x Large Drink (the size of 7-11's big gulp - refillable)
1 x Beef Chilli fries with cheese (upgrade from large fries)
The Portobello Mushroom was so delicious. I've never tasted a mushroom burger such as this, drinks were tasteless (no/little sugar - just the way i like it!) but there were sugar water/packets next to the dispenser.
Rate: 4/5

Conclusion:
If you are hungry, but tired of BK (or other fast food restaurants) and don't want to wait 15-45 mins for a table at Chili's. Then try Carl's Jr. It will be worth it!!

Death... it's closer than you think!

Death is always something that we try very hard to avoid confronting, be it in a family, circle of friends, general public. We would change the subject, ask to talk about something else, even went as far as "Nanti la/Later" or "Tak apa/It's OK" attitude and thinking i'm still young and still a long way to go before i die. In fact, death is close to us everyday, when you go to school, when you drive, when you pee and the closest thing to death you experience everyday is while you are sleeping. ~at least by my account~

As stated in this hadith:

Dari Abdullah r.a katanya:”Pada suatu waktu Ummu Habibah, isteri nabi s.a.aw
berdoa:”Ya Allah!

(Muslim)

~sorry, too lazy to do the translation in english~

Everybody deals with death in his/her own way. As experienced by a fellow blogger, pointed-out in my wife's link in her blog. I'll call her Kak D since she's older than me. My wife has been reading Kak D's entry for sometime now, but today, a friend asked me about Kak D's entries thinking is she someone that we know. I said no, and decided to head-on to her blog for a closer peek.

So what happens next is me spending a good 2 hours reading all her entries. Kak D's husband just passed away due to cancer. In her blog, she wrote about her activities and kids and the news when her husband was diagnosed with cancer and until his passing. As tears started to pour from my eyes (in the office, mind you), i think she really did a good job being a wife and a mother to her children with patience, love and dedication. I don't know whether i can do the same. Tragedy like this could easily put a man into tears. In my book, that makes her a Super Woman.

My prayers are with her and her family. May Allah bless you.
